A note from the artist: “It’s when the dust settles and my mental illness has no means of stable distraction that I create. “Untitled 01 (Mat series)” is the first from my series devoted to exploring the PTSD of my childhood sexual abuse and trauma. I’ve neglected to work on this series in depth previously as I understand that it will bring to light many emotions and distasteful memories but found myself captivated by the quiet settling effect of my time in quarantine. Each “Mat” represents the heavily guarded rugs of those dealing with abuse—hide it under the rug and let the memories walk all over you.”
