“Dysmorphia III”

A note from the artist: “In a year when we could not see each other physically, people got used to be seen through camera lenses, to be judged by their appearances and to feel the pressure to always look flawless, I felt the urge to talk about how we see and present ourselves socially.

I used the Body Dysmorphic Disorder, a mental health disorder in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defect or flaw in your appearance (even though it appears to be minor or can't be seen by others) as the starting point for my project.

To illustrate that concept I photographed vegetables and fruits, as a metaphor of our own bodies, using magnifying lenses to intensify its appearance and expose natural flaws or defects to the viewer.”
