A note from the artist: “The sun disappeared in the year Ce Calli "1 Casa", there was water for 52 years, the sky sunk, women and men were destroyed by Nahui Atl. And they all became fish.
I can't stop thinking about the ancient mesoamerican cosmological Myth of the Five Suns, in which this world, the fifth sun, was preceded by four other cycles of creation and destruction. These pasts worlds or suns ended with cataclysms, each related to four primordial elements of nature: water, air, fire, and earth. I think the Myth of the Suns holds notions that still reverberate, specially today, like the origin and evolution of the world, it's renovation and conservation, and the role that each individual and the community plays to postpone the end of each cycle.
So long story short, I've been basically swimming (perhaps even getting lost) in the vasts seas of resignificance. ¿How about you?”
